Sealtest cook book 1954

One of the weirdest recipes we have ever seen was from a 1954 cook book, “641 Tested Recipes from the Sealtest Kitchens”.  The purpose of this 250-page book was to promote the use of five ingredients:  milk, cream, sour cream, ice cream, and cottage cheese.  Half of the book is desserts.  Most of the other recipes involve cottage cheese.  Some I have experienced before, like lasagna with cottage cheese.  That’s how they served it in schools in the 1970s.  Salads with cottage cheese aren’t unusual, but sandwiches?  Really?  The 12 pages of sandwiches all have cottage cheese on them, mixed with everything from peanut butter to deviled ham.

None of the recipes compare with this soup.  It would be a surprise all right.  Maybe you could dip your Snappy Cottage Cheese sandwich in it.

So i havent actually posted a blog since January. But prepare to be awed. And bear with the title. I know its long, but i thought it was rather witty. So somehow, some way, i stumbled upon some Star Trek videos i quite enjoyed one of the few times this month i was allowed internet access. I immediately thought of you guys, you nerds. (i say this lovingly)

Like Rob Bricken at Toplessrobot, I can't stop watching this video.  A celestial Shatner, constellation chorus, and mass destruction.  Weirdness rocks starting at 2:40 and explodes at 4:00.  Tell me you don't watch it twice, in full screen mode with the sound turned up.  Fear the Sky Shat.
